Nduka favoured for Plateau coaching job

Former Dolphin Football Club coach Ndubuisi Nduka appears to be in the lead of the race for the head coach job at newly-promoted Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side Plateau United.
Nduka is said to be favoured to get the job ahead of four other coaches after an Ivorien, Kone Lassina, was reported to have joined the race before he pulled out.
Ndubuisi left Plateau United in 2004 to team up with Heartland and in 2006, joined Sharks Football Club before he moved to Dolphin FC in 2008 to become assistant to Stanley Eguma.
The transfer speculation is further fuelled by the fact that his former club, Dolphin, are preparing for the new season without him.
Dolphin has temporarily promoted Nduka’s assistant, John Apollo, to fill the void he left, according to the side’s spokesman, China Acheru.
“Dolphins are gradually adjusting to life after former chief coach, Ndubuisi Nduka moved to Plateau United. In the last three seasons, the coaching hierarchy at the club had been Stanley Eguma as Manager, Ndubuisi Nduka as Chief coach, John Apollo as Assistant Coach 1, Ken Chuku as Assistant Coach 2 and George Onyenekwe as goalkeepers’ coach.
“Since Nduka's departure, John Apollo has been acting as chief coach even if no official appointment has been made. It is not clear yet whether the Rivers State government, owners of the club, will appoint a chief coach from outside the ranks or if they will upgrade one of the existing coaches,” he wrote in a statement to SuperSport.com.
In spite of Dolphin’s statement on the coach, Plateau United is yet to appoint a coach for the new season, the club spokesman, Monday Goteng, told SuperSport.com.
“We have not named our head coach for the coming season. But I believe that will be done soon,” he said. Goteng also said coach Taye Yusuf, who helped the side to win promotion from the National Division I League will be retained to work as Nduka’s assistant.
